Hello all who are reading this.
Its a Saturday night in Sydney and I suddenly thought I would do an about me section.
Here goes:
- I think that I am generally quite a straightforward person. As in, there isn't anything complex about me to figure out.
- I am sixteen, but sometimes I feel a little older than that...which isn't a good thing. I haven't even had time to be childish properly!!
- My biggest flaw is laziness.
- I am not the most gifted person in the world, but I know I was given a little bit of talent in some things. If I wasnt so lazy, I might be sort of brilliant by now.
- Unfortunately, its kind of hard to fight laziness when you are naturally lazy.
- I find fifties and sixties pop culture interesting.
- I love film and theatre.
- I like reading, but I am too lazy and slow to read a lot of books that I want to read.
- I am not good with technology, i always break tech stuff!!
- I have many friends, but I find it hard to be close to people, even if they are close to me.
- I love big band and swing!
- Having said that, I also like alternative rock, rock, rock n roll, classical, especially from the romantic period; classical music, soundtrack music, good indie, pop, hip hop and rnb. Oh dear.
- I play the piano. I stopped halfway through my sixth grade course. Which is not even that great of an achievement. I loved playing piano. But once again, I was just WAY TOO LAZY to be good. MY fifth grade examiner, who was actually quite harsh, gave me a C. Actually, I totally deserved it. But he said that I possessed expressive qualities in my work, but i was just way too unprepared and my technique for a fifth grade student was terrible!!
- I sing. As in, I take singing lessons and I love singing. But because I have a low register, I have to work on pushing my chest voice so that it can reach higher notes. Because I sing low, people think I can't sing that well.
- I can actually yodel a little. Don't compare me to Julie Andrews. That would disgrace both her and me.
- At school, I do the subjects advanced maths, extension english, visual arts, drama, beginners french, and legal studies. I am dropping legal studies next year. I wish I did music and history.
- Although I probably have absent mindedly done it, I try to avoid bitching. I discuss, not bitch.
- I have a 12 year old sister called Helen
- I was born in New Zealand
- I am Chinese and slightly Vietnamese
- Although my HSC doesnt start till next year, I am in the preliminary stages of working on a monologue. The monologue is an adaption of a segment of the Joy Luck Club, which I havent even read yet. I will do it ASAP.
- I am an extremely messy person.
- I live with my maternal grandparents( who have raised me since I was born), my mum , my dad, my sister and my dog( samoyed).
- I have never been to an actual , proper concert in my life. I am trying to save up to go to the Cat Empire concert, which is around 60 dollars.
- I don't work. I should though.
- If I was good at science, I might have considered becoming a doctor more strongly.
- I have a tumblr. http://condescendingupthestairs.tumblr.com/
- I am currently reading the Picture of Dorian Gray.
- I want to go to America! Well actually, I want to go everywhere. It's just that America happened to be on my mind just then.
- I have really straight eyebrows.
- I think eyebrows are the most interesting part of the body.
- my school has too many asians.
- has Christian tendencies but I am not a believer
- I consider to be a very lucky asian, as my dad and I have a fairly good relationship that allows him to be both parent and (best) friend.
- I am not the best at standing up for myself.
- Last year, I did work experience at two places: the Australian theatre of the deaf and Erth Physical and Visual( a place that makes props). I like working at the theatre better; more people, more interacting with others, and I really got an insight into what an actors life was like (not glamorous).
- my hair is unmanageable, and Im thinking of perming it, as soon as I have enough money-that will be never.
- unless I win the lotto, I dont think I will ever be rich.
- I have braces.
- I am 160.5cm
- I am listening to Cabaret by Liza Minelli at this moment
- I wish I could sing like Aretha Franklin.
- I could never be an artist- i cant sit in a room alone all the time!
- if you have anything you want me to say about myself, WELL COMMENT AWAY.
- To be Continued:)

Yes, Carmen! Wonderful. Let it out. Fascinating stuff.
Why America?
Why are there 'too many Asians' at your school? (i.e. what's wrong with Asians?)
Mahler was from the Romantic period. Do you like him? I do.
Have you read 'Tao: The Pathless Path' by Osho. He says laziness is OK.
'Christian tendencies but not a believer' sounds promising. Good starting point for moving forward.
It's 1.15am here. My tooth is beginning to say 'Oy, no liberties! Go to bed.' I'll read this again tomorrow.
wow that was the best post ever:D hahaha you do have really straight eyebrows! and gosh i want to smack u on the head for being lazy right now
why? you are supposed to know 99% of these things!!!!!!!!!!
and jenny, saying you want to smack me over the head for being lazy is like me saying i want to smack you over the head for being vain.
OK, read it again as promised. Most interesting, but far too much to comment on. I'll store it and use it as ammunition. Kidding.
Having a low register just makes you an alto. What's the problem?
HAHA store as ammunition. i wish. i wish these were valid comebacks or something.
America? Because I hear from my friend that there are more opportunities there than Australia. I don't think I could live tere for my whole life though. Maybe a little fast for me...who knows though, I might get used to it.
Um I'm not racist against asians, its just that, I prefer to have of other cultures, and not have the demographics so...um..one sided? Its not really multiculturalism if there's only one culture in the school!
Mahler's music is super romantic and super relaxing. I actually like the more classical to romantic transition, like Mendelssohn, Liszt and OF COURSE STRAUSS. King of Waltz.
Have you heard of Jerry Goldsmith? He isnt from the romantic era, but he is a film score composer and I really admire his work.
No, I havne't read it! But I will keep it in mind. In this busy age, I rarely hear anyone say that it is OK to be lazy. haha, jenny would disapprove. Although I would prefer to have a little more willpower and get over that laziness!
Tooth ache? GET WELL SOON.
I also like Glière , Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Rachmaninoff and Paganinni :)
Everything sounds OK to me, Carmen. I think you're doing just fine. There's a lot of life to come yet and paths often lead where you least expect them to.
You obviously have a keen intelligence. Sometimes it's just a matter of turning it outwards rather than inwards. Personally, I think you're the sort who should be learning to laugh at life. Most of it is a pointless waste of energy, but some of it awakens good things like love and the perception of beauty. Suggest you revel in the good and treat the rest like the impostor it is. 99.9% of people disagree with me. It's up to you.
Thank you for your advice, but I don't think I can really take it. Because I never really take advice, i kind of have to work it out myself.
However:), i think you should keep in mind that my blog is my head space and I may already be laughing, its just this is the place where negative things go, so they stay out of my system when I need to work:)
Just a heads up:)
OK. No offence meant.
no offence taken:)
