I really never knew what the true meaning of hard work was until the beginning of this year.
Unlike the other years, I didnt set any new years resolution, because I knew I just wouldn't fulfill them and become super disappointed at the end of the year. I just wanted to work hard. That was all.
So I started trying to better myself, and beat my last result for some of the things I did. I put in the hours and I put in the work...but, my results were the same ( i am talking about schoolwork). It was like, nobody could SEE how much TIME I had put into it, that I deserved a good mark, or a better ranking or better praise or whatever.
That's the problem with school, everything is about the marks. The marks say everything.
It's not that I am not proud of myself for working hard, I actually am really happy about it. It's just, if i was a stranger to myself and I was having a conversation to myself about how hardworking I was, I would not believe it, because there was no proof....that didn't really make sense haha.
But I guess its too early to start complaining. Some people work there arses off for years before they get a fabtastic result, so I am just going to look forward to that moment. For example, my singing teacher, who has been in the musical theatre industry since, forever, and she's always working hard. She doesn't WAIT for her big break, she works at it. Haha, she's being working for years, and I have been working for months, and I'm complaining already!
I guess its because Year 11 is only three terms, and I don't want to be one of the people who are sinking at the end of it, I WANT TO SWIM.

Carmen, like you said, hard work is something you work towards, not something you wait for and expect to come immediately- the success, that is.
You're working hard and the result? It'll all pay off and you're going to do great. Depend upon it my dear fish* :)
*ah, aha! a pun indeed :) 'fish' is your nickname, but it's also a symbol of you 'swimming', not sinking hahahah lol
HAHAHAHAHA lucy, that made my day, seriously.
